How to Install Android N on Windows PC

Google has always been the best to release Android updates, previews and latest SDK for developers to users. Recently, Google released Android N Developer Preview Images for its Nexus range. The Android N will probably be the Android 7.0 which is set to release in the third or fourth quarter of 2016. Android N developer preview version are limited to only a few Nexus models, both of users have to wait long for Android N… Now to enjoy the upcoming OS from Google. However, also you can install Android N on your Windows PC.

Today we’ll show you how to install Android SDK on your Windows computer and running the latest Android N on the emulator. Before proceeding, make sure you have the latest Java package installed on your PC. You can follow the link below and download the standalone Java package 32/64-bit and install it on your computer.

How to Run Android N On Windows PC

  1. Download and install the latest Android SDK on your computer. Download it from the Google developer website.android-sdk-download
  2. Install the Android SDK tools on your computer.(any location)
  3. After installation, launch the SDK Manager on your computer. Once the SDK Manager is started, you will see a list of tools to download to your computer. But to install the Android N on your PC, you simply install these packages are: Android SDK Platform-tools and Android N (API 23, N Preview)download-android-N-SDK
  4. Press the button to install packages once you have selected the required packages. The application will display a license agreement and you must accept the agreement if you want to start the installation. It takes a long time to download and install all the packages, so sit back until they are completely installed.
  5. Once the download is complete and the elements are installed, open the Android SDK folder in the install location and run AVD Manager.exe. At launch, click the Create button, and you should see a Create a new Android Virtual Device (AVD) pop up on your PC.
  6. Fill in the required details in the popup windows as desired. Essentially, you must provide a name for the new virtual machine, select a device from the list and define the target Android N (Preview) – API Level N (AVD Manager then automatically the latest version). Select the remaining options as shown in the screenshot below.android-n-create-avd
  7. You do the rest of the settings according to your PC configuration and press OK. You can opt for a low AVD RAM if your computer has much less memory.
  8. When finished, select the new AVD from the AVD manager and press Start to start your virtual device.android-n-start-avd
  9. Now you should see a small window, enable the scale to display the actual size option, unless you want to run AVD in the original size. Hit start button when you are finished with the settings.
  10. You will see another window with the Android N start on your new Android Virtual Device.android-n-emulator
  11. It might take ridiculously long for the AVD to load depending on the hardware of your PC. So be patient while they AVD boots to the Launcher.

 

That’s all. If you’re stuck on the Android logo for a long time, repeat the process from step 5 to 11 after the removal of the existing AVD.
