When you look at the processor features of a smartphone, tablet or computer you will buy, you have seen terms such as 5nm, 7nm, 10nm, 12nm, 14nm. So what is this NM, what is the NM value in the processors, what is it for?
What does NM mean?
NM abbreviation Nanometer means is a unit of measure of length.

What is the NM Value in Processors?
For a processor, nanometers are used to indicate distances between billions of microscopic transistors inside the core in processors.
For example, the distance between transistors in processors produced with 14nm technology is 14 nanometers, and the distance between transistors in processors produced with 10 nm technology is 10 nanometers.
The smaller this distance, the more transistors are placed in one core as those two transistors (valid for all transistors) take up less space in the core, which contributes to the processor’s warming up later, consuming less power and operating at higher performance.
