Web browsers optimized for M1 Macs
Back in June, Apple announced that Mac would move from Intel to Apple Silicon. The company announced the transition to WWDC and said the full transition would take two years. The first Mac chip for consumer machines is the M1 that powers the MacBook Air, 13 ”base MacBook Pro and Mac Mini (Intel version also available).
To allow developers to move their apps to the new Mac architecture faster, the company released a developer transition kit (DTK) in June. The new Mac powered by M1 was only released in November, so developers had some time to customize their applications for the new platform. Of course Apple, with the upper hand, has already updated all its apps on the Mac for the new ARM version of the Mac.
Safari for M1 Mac updated
Safari is one of the most preferred web-browsers and now the browser is being optimized for the new ARM Mac, it has major performance advantages. Apple’s web page for Safari reads, “And now with Apple Silicon, it’s faster than ever.” The company has made big claims about its browser, such as “With a blazing-fast JavaScript engine, Safari is the fastest browser in the world.”
At this time the new version of Safari for Apple Silicon or for M1 Macs will reportedly consume less power. As a result, Mac laptops will be able to last longer when Safari is being used without the need for continuous charging. Apple’s page noted the lack of battery, stating, “It has been developed specifically to run on Apple devices, so it makes the most of your battery life and provides long lasting power Is ready. “
Other competitors in the web browser market such as Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox have also been optimized for the new Apple Silicon Mac. Google says, users should select the “Mac with Apple chip” option when downloading a browser on an M1 Mac.
