How to Create a Usergroup on Slack
How to Create a User Group in Slacte, follow the steps below one by one.
There’s probably no better messaging app than Slack when sorting out business scenarios and corporate needs. Take, for example, the “user group” feature, which allows you to conveniently interact with and manage a group. In this article, we show you how to create a user group in Slack.
Creating a user group has several advantages. When you aggregate individual Slack members into a user group, you can treat them as a single entity within Slack. This is particularly useful for grouping a particular section or a particular level of hierarchy.
What is User Group? How is it different from a channel?
A User Group is a collection of individual Slack users with a common purpose or role in an organization. All members can be treated together as a single unit. On the contrary, a channel is just a space to communicate on a particular topic. Also, unlike a channel, a user group does not provide a separate chat section for its members. It exists only so that users of a certain type can be notified or processed at the same time.
A channel cannot be treated as a single unit to the extent that it can be a user group. For example, you can add all members of a user group to a channel at the same time, but you cannot add all members of one channel to another channel. A few notable features of a usergroup are:
You can refer to anyone in a user group by saying the name of the user group in the message.
You can set default channels for a user group so that when a user joins that user group, they are automatically added to the default channels as well.
You can add all members of a user group to a channel at once without having to add everyone individually.
